hello and welcome to drpg studios here in worcestershire so we're very proud and excited to be hosting evcom's industry awards so let's go over live now to studio three and hand over to sam and claire hello and welcome to the evcom london live and film awards i'm claire fenelow evcom's executive director and i'm delighted to be here virtually to present today's ceremony we are living in extraordinary challenging times at the moment there's no denying that film and broadcasting agencies are starting to see an uplift and in the case of those who are perfectly placed to ramp up to virtual offerings there has been some really positive takeaways but others have been less fortunate the events industry especially and its supply chain have some some way to go yet one of the most uplifting aspects of our situation however has been the way in which companies and sectors previously in fierce competition with one another have come together collaborated shared facilities and offered help and advice despite a lack of government recognition of our value to the economy and any support we have seen our industries come together so today we want to celebrate celebrate both the winners of these awards and the industry as a whole through the ceremony we will be sharing some of the inspiring campaigns we have seen grow from a need to support each other the nhs and our industry during this crisis before we get going i'd like to introduce the brilliant sam allen who is joining me today to host the ceremony and announce our deserving winners sam is an mc presenter and meetings designer she has chaired conferences moderated corporate workshops and now she is here today to co-host the evcom london live and film awards ceremony thank you claire hello everyone i am super excited to be here with you to celebrate the best of corporate and brand film and of course corporate events work that you are responsible for creating it is my pleasure to be able to stand in front of you today to officially kick off this evening celebrations for those of you who joined earlier and took part in the album artwork quiz while they knew i found it really challenging and we'll be announcing our winners on social media after the ceremony and the answers will be revealed at the end over to you claire so there's lots of people um make a ceremony like this possible so i'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to some of those people our sponsors drpg cevent and imex enable us to run these awards and we couldn't do it without them i'd particularly like to thank drpg whose sponsorship includes the use of this rather lovely studio which we are broadcasting from right now and the edge picture company for sponsoring our new focus award we'll hear more about that later i'd also like to thank our esteemed panel of judges whose expertise selects our winners thank you for your consideration and time even in these difficult times we received so much brilliant work and the discussions and debates that came out of the judging sessions have ensured a great list of nominees to be shortlisted is a huge achievement in itself a testament to the quality of creativity and excellence in our industries now it wouldn't be evcom without social so make sure you find us on twitter at evcom awards and of course on insta evcom uk and i encourage and ask you to tag us as those at some point so to begin this celebration of the industry we're going to share an inspiring campaign with you one of the campaigns that first came out of this crisis and a great example of people working collaboratively young guns created a charity single lean on me to raise money for the nhs bringing together musicians fundraising charities and health workers they started their campaign feeling like many people at the time when the pandemic first hit what can we do they pooled resources with the make it blue campaign to create the film which accompanied the single and that film was launched on itv news at 10 and then broadcast across all the major networks gaining international press and radio coverage to create the single brothers dominic and alexander alexander lyon of young guns assembled over 100 music industry friends including beverly knight joss stone omar josh daniel ranch singh blake and escala as well as frontline nhs staff to remotely record bill withers lean on me remarkably the song was recorded across 30 home studios by session musicians in isolation who naturally perform the event and music industries the music was produced in france by ben mitchell and is the first time a track and video has been coordinated using remote studios on this kind of scale make it blue came to life when the events and entertainment industry found itself much like the rest of the uk in a state of enforced in action without leaving their homes the team behind this wanted to use their skills and networks to say a massive thank you to all those working at the front line and risking their own health to care for others they also wanted to reach out to many people within our industry who having lost their jobs were feeling anxious and uncertain about the future make it blue started by the uk events and entertainment industry is now a truly global campaign the power of the combined skill sets of young guns and make it blue launched a message that had real emotional impact and reached millions of people let's see a bit of those two projects now [Music] but if we are wise we know that there's always too much [Music] [Music] me [Music] those are your experience of judging the live awards anna judging the evcom awards was a real privilege to get an insight into the outstanding examples of work across the uk events industry was so inspiring and energising the entries were a great reminder of how much we can achieve with so much talent vision and expertise i felt proud to be a part of it and being involved gave me a renewed determination to find a way through we worked so hard to curate amazing events but we don't tend to give ourselves enough time to reflect and celebrate on how well we do and the impact our work and the way we work has on others during such a challenging time to be able to celebrate and receive recognition for our contribution and our resilience to take a breath this is really important the evcom awards allow for clock [Music] about 20 years ago i built my house here and i didn't think about where the energy is coming from in 2014 i bought an electrical car and then it was really logic to go further with of their fields the film brand communication category is always incredibly popular and despite the challenge of 2020 this hasn't changed this category rewards the most effective and relevant use of waiting for the best selfie competition the best dressed competition what are we all wearing what are you wearing out there i hope we've got some of those please keep them coming but we want to see what we can see so far let's take a look great dress fantastic brilliant absolutely beautiful who knew that evercom had such good-looking people and good-looking participants the glamour the glamour keep sending those selfies in that's not enough and remember there's a bottle of champagne with your name on it do not forget get those selfies in the email is on the screen so work that amplifies the fantastic well done [Music] good morning okay and a huge welcome to the uk partner retreat thank you i'm so thrilled to be here i've been so fortunate to be able to collaborate with some of the smartest people in the world [Music] whilst we're on the subject of celebration it seems a fitting time to celebrate the way this industry has come together over the last eight months apart from generally supporting each other with offers of help advice and support filmmakers have created work to raise money for the nhs and the events industry have launched campaigns for industry recognition the usual spirit of competition has i'm sure most can agree being replaced by a real sense of community we are now going to hear from simon hughes who is part of the bv ep of which evcom is an active member and rick stanton from smile in an exclusive interview with martin fullard from mash media about the one industry one voice campaign martin take it away okay it's recording great they'll chop and top and tail this hi guys it's great to be here at this event i'm martin fullard editorial director at mash media and i'm delighted today to introduce group executive director of creative agency smile rick stanton and simon hughes the chair of the business visits and events partnership now one industry one voice is an unprecedented cross-industry campaign uniting the entire industry like never before and it's just launched its brand new wecreate experiences campaign rick hoping you can give us a bit of a background on on where we've come from yeah thanks martin great to be part of this uh this event um effectively um 1-3-1 voice is designed to align all different sectors of the industry to help the key sector campaigns um work together and share data um and obviously a lot of them are lobbying government so that's really a useful powerful way of doing it from a unified perspective and we've got all the key associations involved we've got um say thousands of businesses that are representing sort of the wedding sector the corporate events the trade exhibition stands sports music arts um uh and outdoor events um and so you know for them to be working together is just absolutely fantastic and representing again through through those businesses associations hundreds of thousands of event professionals as well so you know we're now trying to leverage that power for all the future campaigns um which is very exciting simon maybe you could just give us a quick overview of what the actual mission of one industry one voice is well uh it's a coalition of campaigns martin and we realized very early on as the pandemic hit that we we are in an industry of creative problem solvers so lots of people started to develop campaigns in order to help the industry and we realized fairly quickly and it's why one industry one voice came about we needed to help that and support that and support those people who many of whom are in real dire need but actually we can do that by uniting our voices coordinating activity sharing data and making sure that the collective voice through all these different campaigns is much louder and is heard much more clearly and that's very much what one industry one voice is all about making sure that our voice is heard and heard in the right places at the right time so simon what are the actual plans for one industry one voice going forward going forward we are looking forward to supporting uh campaigns across the next couple of months all of this is geared towards the we create experiences because there's an enormous amount of effort being done by various organizations and campaigns focusing on government support and government help we're going to be there coming along with we create experiences with something that's much more positive and forward-looking we know it's difficult at this time we know how hard some people are finding it but we've got to remind people how important events are right across our lives from personal experiences like weddings or anniversaries right through to kind of the big international events such as trade shows or major sporting activation uh we just need to get people to think 2020 i'm going to have been there at 2021 i'm going to get back to events rick tell us a little bit more about we create experiences what's the actual plan for this campaign going forward yeah i mean as simon said you know the financial lobbying and and the requirements to government other campaigns doing is incredibly credible and we just wanted to balance that with a more medium and long-term campaign that effectively does three things it's it's a national media campaign designed to target the public and the corporate buyers with three main messages educate them of what actually we do the way we touch millions of people's lives in so many different ways the gdp contribution the employment numbers how we support the sort of other sectors there's travel or restaurant or theater or so on so we're collating um that sort of data and making sure it's part of video assets that's that video those video assets will have strong content within them that lots of different organizations have providers for which is obviously a great selling point for us and then the third message beyond that from the education inspiration perspective be reassurance we're the experts in the safety of the experts in crowd management with the experts in health and safety and crowd and protocols and logistics it's in our dna and we can effectively do it so we've got video assets being put together we've got a lot of high-profile personalities from all different genres of showbiz and sport and music um and and regional government and scientists helping us put together some video assets we've got pr agency we've got a fund that's now raised over 50 000 pounds if you want to donate please go to the we create experiences website and as a just giving page there i know some people are not in position to do that support in other ways by it by by all means share and engage with the content we're putting together digital assets we're putting together a strategy and then we'll go out live to the national media in in hopefully definitely in the plan is subject to national sentiment before the end of the year but just before that we're going to start sort of teasing and updating the the industry um through the the one and three one voice social media tags and channels and the website just so they know what we're ramping up to actually activate when we go live to the national media so it's very exciting and hopefully we'll get a medium long-term legacy out of this which is the understanding from the national press and the public and by default the government of what we do the power of what we do and how it impacts millions of people's lives so effectively in a quick sentence or two then rick give us a quick call to action what can people do to support the campaign please go to one and three one voice on twitter on instagram on facebook on linkedin see the content share it follow it send out to your networks and obviously we create experiences go to that they'll learn about more about the specific campaign and there's some the plans of what we're going to do um in the coming weeks on that as i say hopefully subject to national sentiment going live before the end of the year so we can really kickstart our 2021 off in a positive light and get back to delivering the amazing experiences that we all love to to do thank you very much guys and so everyone else enjoy the rest of the event thank you gentlemen it really is fantastic to see the industry coming together in such a strong way it's now time to take a short break from the awards announcements to be joined by evcom's favorite musical entertainment hannah hannah brown hannah sang for us in the summer if you remember at the evcom clarion awards and now she is back by popular demand with another
