Neurodiversity in the Workplace

October 24, 2024 04:00 PM Europe/London

What is neurodiversity? And how can you make sure your workplace is inclusive for the neurodivergent members of your team?

Jules Sander (Diverse Thinkers) is an experienced production executive (former Head of Production at a responsible business agency) and a qualified psychotherapist and coach specialising in neurodiversity. She will be joined by Sarah Clifford, Head of Strategy (BFBS Creative), ‘The Culture Colonel’, Lindsay MacDuff (BFBS Creative) and Susie Holm (Production Assistant, The Edge Picture Company).

They will explain what neurodiversity is and how it could manifest in the workplace. The discussion will hone in on common difficulties and challenges that might occur in the workplace and offer ways around them. Jules will also share findings from her research, and other recent research, on neurodiversity in the workplace. The event will include valuable insights important both for neurodivergent individuals and their colleagues and employers in the creative industries.

Jules Sander

Film and Content Executive | Seasoned Producer/Director | BACP Registered Coach/Therapist | Specialist in Neurodiversity, Diverse Thinkers

With a 25-year career in production, Jules initially worked in broadcasting, finding her niche as a shooting P/D on the long-running BBC1 daytime series City Hospital. From there she transitioned to producing and directing films for the NHS and various government departments, sparking a passion for delivering impactful messages to the right audience. She took this understanding to the national charity RNIB where she headed up film production for over 5 years before moving into leadership roles with creative agencies. Now working independently, she specialises in crafting strong content for clients, including agencies and brands, with a focus on responsible business issues. As a BACP registered integrative counsellor and coach (with an interest in neurodiversity) she also brings a unique perspective to workplace dynamics.

Lindsay MacDuff

The Culture Colonel, BFBS Creative

Lindsay has 30 years’ experience as a military leader and diplomat. He has been immersed, for much of this time, in international environments and accrued much cultural acumen whilst operating at strategic level across government, industry and the 3rd sector. Lindsay has been a trailblazer in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Culture and behavioural change since studying feminism at university. Lindsay joined BFBS Creative as Head of Inclusion and now unexpectedly finds himself hosting “The Culture Colonel” podcast – which creates space for (sometimes difficult) conversations about leadership learning and culture change.

Sarah Clifford

Head of Strategy, BFBS Creative

Sarah is an award-winning strategic communications specialist working in the Government and Defence sector. She has worked on some of the biggest challenges the UK as faced in the past 10 years including COVID-19, the war in Ukraine, national security and unacceptable behaviours. Alongside helping clients drive behaviour change through data-driven communications strategies, she is also a Mental Health First Aider and staunch advocate of positive and inclusive team cultures as a prerequisite for effective teams.
